Seminar in HL College for MCA April 3, 2008

Hi Guys,
Taking our endeavor in spreading Open Source knowledge in Gujarat to the next level, OpenKick organized yet another seminar in HL College of computer studies, one of the most reputed colleges of Gujarat in collaboration with Computer Society of India (CSI).
The audience comprised of students from the 2nd, 4th and 6th semester of MCA course. The seminar started off with me giving a brief background of OpenKick, the training division of Gloscon. Emphasis was laid on how adoption of open-source technologies by software professionals are the need of the hour and the career opportunities it has.
We then started out by giving presentation on Drupal and what are its benefits. Explaination was given on how strong Drupal and how they can easily download drupal through www.drupal.org. also reasosn were given as to why it should be adopted by students. Some highlights:
Drupal – Open Source Content Management
- Stable, Flexible and Modular
- Features such as Blogs, Forums, Polls, Workflow Management etc.
- Strong & active community
- Community of 300000+ users & developers
- Websites – 100000+
- Adoption of Drupal by major organizations
The students and Faculties were exposed some important aspects of Drupal and were provided insights on the different topics such as
- Requirements for Drupal
- Modules
- Themes
- Versions
- Important Features
- Pluggability features
were presented to the students and Faculties of HL College.
Finally the students and Faculties had lot of queries regarding Drupal and the OpenKick team did best to solve all their queries.
Openkick will be keeping different seminars across all the MCA/Engineering colleges in order to spread the word of Drupal and along with it all open source technologies in the IT professionals and student community.

A small step toward the Healthy Future…
Hello Guys….Its RG again…..and here, I am writing on
Myself my colleague Organized an Open Source (mainly Drupal) Seminar for last year Graduates and Post Graduates students who studying in Dhirubhai Ambani Institutes of Information & Communication Technology at Gandhinagar, at their premises. (Oh God…Help me!!!).
You know guys, I was shocked when I saw more than 100 students (no way!!!) were interested and already booked their name for this seminar. So me and my colleague, presented many details about Drupal’s Installation, Implementation, Module Integration, Drupal terminologies, Drupal Architecture and many more Drupal’s Features. And Guys, an interesting part is that, Our Sr. Software Engineer shown a live demo on “Create a website in hour using Drupal”. (wow…that’s great)
The event was well received and many participants requested us for organizing more workshops and Seminars on Drupal. (See buddies…My Organization is so popular) So you or your Institutes want an Event or Workshop on Drupal at your premises than call me…….Buzz me……. or Shoot me. (means Reply me)

OHi Guyz,
I am RG, Editor of OpenKick’s blog and one who would be writing some really dumb blog’s (i mean really dumb!!!) on anything and everything to which OpenKick is related.
But you might be wondering what OpenKick actually is??? Well, i do not want to spill the beans for now (really can’t hide it…ummph!) but i can say for sure it has something to do with Open Source technologies and a lot (and I mean it) to do with Drupal/RoR. I suppose you guys know what Drupal and RoR is… right??? Yes, No… Did i hear NO, you mean you do not know what Drupal/RoR is… ???
Well for those of you who know what Drupal or RoR is, this blog would help you find some really good resources on the net (believe me… there are many). For those of you who do not know what it is like, this blog can be called as a starter where-in you can get all the latest news about these technologies what are also termed to be Web 2.0 technologies.
By the way have you really figured out what OpenKick is??? The punch line can say something about it though… which is… “Get the Kick in your career”… this would definitely have electrocuted your grey cells to again start functioning….
Ofcourse… its definitely about Open Source and more so about building Career around it… but exactly what… how can OpenKick help you???… Job prospects in OpenSource???… you can keep guessing… till the next post arrives…
BTW… i m really enthusiastic about answering career related questions… so shoot em… straight… would love to answer those…
